Twenty-two for 22
resolutions, goals, and adventures
New years resolutions are a funny thing. Sometimes they really work and other times they fail miserably. Part of me thinks you shouldn’t wait until the new year to get started on your goals, but I have also first-handly witnessed how convenient and motivating the start of a new year can be. So, I do not completely oppose the idea.
When I was in high school, either sophomore or junior year, I was discussing new year’s resolutions with my family and I came up with the idea to go on the “No C” diet for the entire year. The “No C” diet is basically no “bad food” that starts with c; chocolate, cake, cookies, chips, crackers, ice cream, candy, etc. After explaining it, my dad told me he didn’t think I could do it. Not only am I super competitive, but I also hate being told I can’t do something. So, I decided to place a bet on my completing the year without my favorite desserts - $500 with a 50% yearly interest rate. I proceeded to not indulge in any sweet treats for that year as well as the next and pocketed $1250 in the process.
However, going into 2022 I am thinking I want to make my own sort of bucket list for the year. Some items are larger to tick off than others but hopefully, I complete all in the end. Here is what I am thinking for my twenty-two in 22.
drink two bottles of water each day
go to Bryce canyon
complete an Olympic triathlon
write a blog regularly
get healthy
read 6 new books
become a runner (especially in the summer)
find a head sponsor
reread “Chop Wood, Carry Water”
create the right team to help me accomplish my goals (coaches, tech, pt )
go on a trip with my friends
be more present
create a daily log for skiing
go to Australia
take more pictures
express gratitude to someone daily
redo my bedroom
call someone I haven’t spoken to/seen in a while, every other week
mountain bike from PC to SLC
go to a beach
find something I enjoy to do by myself
assume positive intent
And with that, I wish you a happy new year :)
Enjoy today,
Madi
